Chelsea FC Foundation and Clacton Coastal Academy – “Clacton Coastal Football Academy”

The Clacton Coastal Football Academy (CCFA) is recruiting footballing students for its eighth successive year. The post-16 football and education programme, which is run by Clacton Coastal Academy (CCA) in partnership with Chelsea FC Foundation, is looking for students currently in School Year 11. Students do not have to attend CCA, but do need to be undertaking educational provision in the CCA Sixth Form from September 2018.

Successful applicants will benefit from weekly training sessions and matches delivered by Sean Hillier, a highly-qualified and well-respected FA Level 3 (UEFA B) Coach who works full-time for Chelsea FC Foundation in the local area. They will have a variety of different courses on offer to study at CCA, and for the first time, the football programme will be working alongside other subjects, including media and catering. This will help to give even more students a chance to experience what life can be like in the world of a professional football club.

All players on the programme are provided with official Chelsea FC training and playing kit and potentially get the opportunity to play at Cobham, Chelsea’s official training ground in Surrey.

In the past 7 years, more than 50 CCFA players have achieved the FA Level 1 qualification, with some even attaining the FA Level 2. In that time, the Foundation have employed 11 of these players to work part- and full-time in the local community.

CCA Prinicipal, Stephanie Neill said, “We are delighted to have the Chelsea Football College Academy as part of our sixth form provision again this year.  We are especially looking forward to widening the opportunities for our CCA catering and media students being able to explore their subjects within the football context. This is all in keeping with the Academy vision to widen the experience of our students so they can be successful in employment”.

Sean Hillier, North East Essex Development Officer for the Foundation, and current CCFA Head Coach added, “It’s a fantastic opportunity for young, local footballers to experience how professional footballers train and play, plus they have the excellent provision of courses on offer at CCA. There is also the potential of getting involved in coaching which could lead to possible employment within the Foundation.

What an opportunity for any young person… don’t miss out – come along to the Open Day to find out more!”
