There is an amazing opportunity coming up for young people aged 16-30, who are not in training, education or employment.
Our free 4 week Get into Healthcare programme in partnership with South Essex College and TLC Limited is available to young people living in or around the Colchester, Clacton, Braintree and Halstead areas. This programme involves 2 weeks training at South Essex College in Colchester and 2 weeks work placement with TLC care service.
This excellent opportunity is a chance for young people to gain qualifications and work experience which will help them gain the skills they need to progress into further training or employment.
Apprenticeships or entry level roles in the Health and Care sector linked through Colchester Institute and South Essex College, opportunities for employment with TLC Care Homes.
Previous programmes have been successful in providing employment for those young people who complete the programme and are looking for career within this sector.
Work placements will be sourced from existing TLC care homes which will in the main cover Halstead, Colchester and Clacton localities
NB due to the locality of Harwich in relation to the work placements available with TLC care Homes (unless the young person has transport any recruitment from Harwich will not be logistically or financially viable in the long term for a young person.
Prince’s Trust mentoring support available up to six months after the programme. All travel expenses reimbursed and benefits paid as normal during the 4 weeks.

Taster Day – 13th Nov
Programme runs 19th Nov- 14th Dec
DBS checks are required for this programme at no cost to the young person and will be done at the Taster Day
TLC Care Homes specialises in supporting and sustaining services users whose behaviour may have resulted in a series of previous placement breakdowns by developing a person centered service that is able to respond rapidly and flexibly to an individual need
TLC Care Homes offer quality housing and specialist support for people with learning difficulty, physical disability, challenging behaviours, mental health problems and autism spectrum disorder
These services include: Residential Care: Supported Housing: Bespoke Outreach Services and Respite Care
TLC embrace the independent living philosophy that all people, regardless of disability, have the right and responsibility to make informed choices to live as independently and as safely as possible within the community and participate as full and equal citizens
TLC encourages its service users to explore beyond their immediate boundaries, through activities that can include, accompanied holidays, College trips to cinemas and sports centres, shopping trips, swimming, and community based activities such as football and horse riding, taking an individual approach to encourage the service user to be as independent as possible
TLC provides a structured career development path for all staff including regular supervision and an annual training plan
Starting Salaries of up to £19,000 and each new applicant can receive either £200 sign on bonus or free driving lessons* (Terms and condition apply)
All young people will be required to have a DBS check and the relevant ID to be brought to the Taster day, programme timetable will be two weeks with South Essex College based at Colchester Institute between 19th – 30th November then into work placements commencing 3rd December.
