HILL – Healthier Independant Longer Lives

logo sml

The HILL project will work with local residents living in Clacton (Pier Ward), Walton, Harwich and Jaywick (Golf Green Ward). Our community development team will talk to local residents and find out how they feel about their community, what services they access and what is missing. Activities and services will then be established to respond to need and volunteers from the local community will be trained and supported to set up new projects and ensure that they continue.

Projects include:
Walking/swimming group – working in partnership with Valley Farm Caravan Park Pool manager to provide discounted swimming sessions. Local walks led to encourage friendships and regular exercise. Starting 12th January, 10am.
Friendship group – fortnightly group for anyone who feels isolated, wants to make new friends or has experienced bereavement. Activities and guest speakers at every session. Starting 24th January, 10am-12noon.
Befriending service – trained volunteers home visiting service to isolated/house bound residents in Pier Ward. Coming soon.
IT Friday – weekly computer drop in sessions for Pier Ward residents to access IT support with experienced volunteers on hand to help. Fridays 10am-12.30pm.

We work with many partner agencies to promote community services and resource initiatives to benefit local residents.
