HeadsUp – Helping you back to work

HeadsUp – Helping you take the first step on your journey back to work

There are many reasons why someone may not be working and  it’s quite common to feel anxious or unconfident when thinking about looking for work, so extra support during this time could be a real help. If this sounds familiar then an Essex based project already working with 161 people, could be just what you need.

HeadsUp is a free programme funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through the Big Lottery Fund. It’s designed to help people who have experienced a common mental health problem such as anxiety or depression find and maintain work.   1 in 4 people experience such feelings at any one time, it’s not uncommon and is doesn’t have to prevent you from returning to work when you feel ready.

A peer support worker can help you consider any emotional barriers standing in your way of returning to work, and help improve practical skills such as writing a great CV or practicing interview techniques. Our workshops help participants find ways to boost self-confidence, take charge of their well-being and learn tricks to increase personal resilience.

People can refer themselves to our programme or may be referred by an organisation, and we have received some great feedback

‘Brilliant, the service is brilliant, my peer support worker is amazing – kind, supportive, proactive’

‘Not being made to feel stupid or judged is a breath of fresh air.  The workshops are a brilliant idea’
