youth volunteering programme
As part of National Volunteers week, taking place 01-07 June 2017, Teen Talk (Harwich) will be launching a brand new youth volunteering programme. The opportunity is open to 18-25 year olds who want to gain the skills and knowledge they need to start a career working with young people.
The initial training will take place over 3 hours per week for 4 weeks where you will cover topics such as safeguarding, professional boundaries and confidentiality as well as getting hands on experience supporting young people as part of our Life Skills project activities including the HIYA youth forum and Harwich Wildlife Project.
Once your training is complete you will be able to help develop and deliver a whole range of activities at Teen Talk including our coffee clubs, school holiday activities and annual awards evening. You’ll also have access to opportunities that include supporting our marketing, event planning and social media activities.
The skills and knowledge you gain through this training will not only benefit those interested in youth based carers such as teaching, youth work, child minding or social care, but will also be transferable to other areas and we’ll even help you to find opportunities with other organisations that’s just the right fit for you.
This programme is free to volunteers and travel expenses can be reimbursed. To find out more and get your application pack just drop in to our centre at 17 Cliff Road, Harwich, or contact:
